Environmental pollution and shortages of resources are serous problems all over the world. In order to solve the problems many developed countries have taken Waste Resource Recoveryas a vitally important policy in their the national economic constructions and opened a new campaign of the industrial revolution of secondly resources.

  In China, great attention has been paid to the reclamation and utilization of waste resources. On the basis of the Research Institute of Kunming University of Science and Technology, the National Engineering Research Center of Solid Waste Resource Recovery NERC-SWRRwas founded and invested with 7 million USD by the government in January 1997. The NERC-SWRR has aimed to perform the technology transfer and to lead the development of the trade business in the field of waste resource recovery.

  NERC-SWRR is managed as a modern enterprise but with a great concern of the social functions as well. Since it is an enterprise and an economic entity, NERC-SWRR is administratively and financially independent, self-accounting, self-balancing and self-developing. NERC-SWRR will continually recruit the correlative to engage in engineering research and system integration for performing the technology transfer. A long-term policy of NERC-SWRR is to attract talent people to strengthen the teams on the scientific research and the technology transfer.

  NERC-SWRR devotes itself to the basic research on the interdisciplinary of both environmental engineering and materials science and to the applied research for industrialization as well. NERC-SWRR develops technologies to transform various solid wastes into new useful resources and technologies of common items and key techniques to meet the need of large-scale production. NERC-SWRR spreads the new materials, new techniques, new products and new equipments that are developed maturely into the correlative industries continuously.

  The main task of NERC-SWRR is to provide a new and complete set of engineering research achievements in order to establish and develop a new modern industrial system i.e.reclaimed resource industry in China. It includes:

1. the preparation technologies of various composites from wastes,

2. the technologies of pretreatment, reclamation and test of various wastes,

3. various products of the composites made from wastes and their complete production equipments.
